It was great to see that my brother was spared the axe during a recent change in leadership at his place of employment. He has worked there for as long as I can remember and has seen a number of 'administrations' come and go...Just goes to show you how seasaoned he's become in that cut throat world...
My bro is the one who actually pulled some strings to get me in there in the late 1990s. While working under the former Swanick administration, I wasn't as lucky in late 2001 to keep my position, when former legislator Debenedetti took the reins (again with help of the Republicans) and dispensed with most of the staff. I had them officially lay me off. I still owe one to Al.
It really turned out to be a great thing for me, though. I used the little bit of unemployment the gave me to help in my move to Raleigh. The rest is history, as they say.
